Tandem well positioned for growth in 2023

Senior Partners John Jones and Lisa Riva from property asset management company Tandem.
Since Tandem was established in 2017, the business has grown into a leading independent property asset manager working on a national basis across a wide range of sectors. Senior Partners, John Jones and Lisa Riva, have assembled a top team and an impressive list of clients. As part of their on-going plans, they have agreed to take full control of the business, buying out original shareholders Farebrother and Tuckerman. The deal gives Farebrother and Tuckerman reward for putting the business together and at the same time allows Jones and Riva the opportunity to continue building the business, the client base, and assets under management.

Lisa Riva commented:

“We will always be grateful to Farebrother and Tuckerman for giving us the opportunity to develop the original idea and take on the Tandem brand as a platform for our experienced and specialist services. We were introduced to Alistair Subba Row at Farebrother in 2018 and with strong on-going collaboration we have been able to build a service and brand to challenge our much larger competitors. We are really pleased we have been able to repay the original shareholders for their investment and at the same time create an opportunity for some of our own team to join us on the next stage of our development.”

Farebrother’s Executive Chairman Alastair Subba Row said:

“When I met John and Lisa four years ago, we shared the same vision to develop a strong team to provide a high-quality property management service for clients’ assets. The growth of the firm is proof that the goal has been achieved and both Farebrother and Tuckerman look forward to working with Tandem in the future.”

Tandem focuses on a high-quality service and has been quick to open offices in Birmingham, Leeds, and Newcastle to support national client work for M7 Real Estate and LXi, as well as strong regional business for Frogmore, Clearbell, Augur, and Eric Wright. They have developed a strong reputation delivering dedicated Property Management services with purpose. The core of the team provides data and accounting services with a leading team based in Birmingham’s rapidly growing Digbeth district. The property managers aim to be responsive, flexible, and provide thoughtful services for the most complex portfolios, mixed assets, and redevelopment projects. Tandem is committed to strong ESG credentials throughout all parts of the business and the teams all appreciate the importance of customer service and occupier requirements alongside social value and community.

The business looks set to continue to grow and is currently looking to strengthen services with teams in Bristol and Manchester. As part of the carefully planned growth, Tandem will build on its graduate intake in September this year, with three new starters in London, a second graduate in Leeds, and a first surveying graduate in the Birmingham office. This will take the overall team from 40 in 2018 to 60 this year.

John Jones added:

“With the experience from our many years leading the team at GVA we have a very clear picture of what good service looks like and what it takes to maintain high-quality and responsive property management. We are totally committed to our key clients, and we know precisely what makes a difference to them. We have recruited the best people to help us grow and we will encourage them to develop careers and leadership roles at Tandem as a key part of succession planning.”
